Persuasive Writing isn't complicated, once you understand the formula.
In 5th Grade we focus on the 5 Paragraph Persuasive Essay.

Paragraph 1:     Introduce the topic. Give your opinion. List 3 reasons that support your opinion.
Paragraph 2:     Restate reason #1. Explain why this reason is valid.
                          Give examples that help readers visualize.
                          Quote someone.
                          Use powerful and feeling words.
                          Add details.
