BIOGRAPHY
A biography tells the story of a person's life. An autobiography is the story of a person's life - written by the   person who is writing his or her own story. If you read Abraham Lincoln: A Life written by Michael Burlingame, you are reading a biography. If you read Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant written by Ulysses S. Grant, you are reading an autobiography.
